Stephen is one our main connections in Uganda. He volunteers for an orphanage in Uganda, giving them basic essentials where possible and teaching them the essentials of life. We have been in contact with him for approximately eight years. Due to dictator Idi Amin ruined the economy through progressive greed. There became no state aid. Therefore if a child loses their parents in Uganda, they are left in the streets. There is no adoption programmes.

The Covid-19 virus meant that Stephen could no longer work. He was indeed struggling to get food as he had no money to by it.

"Currently physically I'm not fine because of the covid-19 season lockdown I've spent many days without working. - But spiritually strong and trusting God".

The situation worsened as Stephen contracted Malaria.

Stephen at the Doctors

Stephen has luckily made a recovery from the Malaria, and is now striving to once again care for the orphans.

Stephen dreams of having his own orphanage. He can understand their plight because he himself was an orphan. His father was 64 when he was born and passed away when Stephen was eight years old. His mother also became old and hustled to take care of him and his siblings. She unfortunately could not manage, because she had no education and the only available work was heave manual labour. Stephen was therefore orphaned. As he writes:

"Then a hustling life started from there but I thank God that He knew me like he says in Jeremiah 1:5. He protected my life I didn't die, in those days I suffered from a disease called polio, it's one of the killer diseases and I am told that I became lame by that time but God healed me from all of that. Generally if it wasn't God I could be nowhere, so I know that there are many who are like I was by that time so I really want to change their lives."
